Staples – 01/12/14

I wasn’t quite ready to jump back into Staples yet – despite having rewards and gift cards to spend, as well as a new year to qualify for Premier status. But… it’s really hard to turn down a $24+ money maker deal!

Shaw’s – 01/10/14 and 01/11/14

Well well well… yes, it really IS me! I’ve had a very nice break from blogging here and might actually be back on a more regular basis. Not to say I haven’t been shopping – I have mostly been doing rebate deals. Boring software items that I don’t care to blog about. It’s really not that interesting.

I was upstairs earlier in the week and noticed Dave was running low on cereal. Uh oh… I am not in the mood for a cereal deal! The very next day I saw the deal for Cascadian Farms at Shaw’s. Uh oh again! That’s only his very favorite cereal in the whole world! Ok, I’m in…

To make things more interesting, General Mills was offering $5 in bonus Box Tops for every 10 participating items we purchased. The cereal, yogurt, and soup all qualified. When all was said and done we had $35 in bonus Box Tops! Dave’s sister and her husband both teach in a public school and have asked for any Box Tops we can share. Win-win when you factor in the Box Tops!

Organic graham crackers: 1.00 (manager markdown)

4 Tostitos (BOGO): 8.58

16 Yoplait Greek: 16.00 – 4.00 q

18 Yoplait Yogurt: 9.00 – 2.40 q

Deli turkey: 3.99 – 2.00 manager q

Total OOP: 51.61

Sure wish I’d remembered to use the 5.00 off 50.00 q! Just didn’t think of it because I didn’t know I’d be spending that much. Yeah it’s a lot OOP, but we got a ton of food.

01/11/14:

1st transaction:

8 Cascadian Farms: 20.00 – 12.80 q

2 Tostitos (BOGO): 4.29

2 Progresso: 2.00 – 1.00 q

15 Wired energy drink: 3.00 + 0.75 deposit

Steak: 7.78 – 3.00 manager q

Beef ribs (BOGO): 13.91 – 3.00 manager q

Total OOP: 35.93

2nd transaction:

8 Powerade: 8.00 – 4.00 q

8 Cascadian Farms: 18.00 – 12.80 q

2 Tostitos (BOGO): 4.29

2 Progresso: 2.00 – 1.00 q

2 light bulbs: 2.00

2 honey ham deli meat: 5.98 – 4.00 manager q

Total OOP: 17.60

Oops… math doesn’t add up here. Upon further inspection, one of the Powerades didn’t ring up in this transaction. The flip side to that is that some of the Cascadian Farms rings up more than advertised. Oh well, these things happen.

So nowhere near free groceries this time, but we are quite happy with how we stretched our dollars. :)
